Releasing Your Mental And Emotional Brakes

If each of us has does have unlimited potential and we have the possibility of taking advantage of this world of abundance,. Why is not everyone automatically happy and successful?

What happens to the potential brilliance of children?  Obviously, some force operates to limit the potential genius children are born with. What a child learns in their first few years is astounding.

Many individuals arrive later on in life with their inspiration at a low ebb. It’s the mental and emotional brakes that are holding us back and what we need to do is learn how to release our brakes.

The starting point of negative habit patterns is destructive criticism in early childhood. It destroys the emotional wellbeing of the child but leaves them intact. So the person is walking around with their emotions destroyed from destructive criticism.

Now, most people have these mental blocks that hold them back whether they know about them or not. Many of these blocks are unconscious so they can’t deal with him.

SCOTOMAS

I discovered a new valuable word the other day ‘scotomas’ – our “lockouts,” and we will refer to them as “scotomas.” Understanding your scotomas is very important as you break out of your limitations and into more valid ways of thinking. In psychology, scotoma refers to a person’s inability to perceive themselves clearly and that is blatantly obvious to others. We do not see what it is that we do not see. We do not see our blind spots.

“Denial – when the human mind blocks out what it can’t emotionally accept.” – Dr. Frasier Crane (from the sitcom Frasier

Sometimes this type of myopia or distorted awareness gives us a sense of security. Some people purposely avoid acquiring information that would make vague fears more specific and then it would require taking action. Ignorance is bliss and so we think we’re cushioning ourselves from anxiety. Ignorance is not stupidity but means to ‘ignore’ – this ignoring for too long causes a lot of damage.

Not only do scotomas prevent us from finding solutions, but they also block us from even seeing the problem. But remember this: a tremendous advantage comes to you when you learn – and quickly recognise – that you do, indeed have scotomas. All of us do. So join our club.

TURNING SCOTOMAS INTO PROFIT

Every blessing ignored becomes a curse.” — Paulo Coelho

One of the ways we can begin to look at our lives is in a different perspective and understand it in its true clarity. Begin to see that our challenges or so-called challenges are really opportunities. The thing I’ve realised that I love is how intimately we’re connected with our life. The things that happen to us both good or not so good are reflections of us – of our energy, our beliefs, our scotomas, our blind spots, our lifestyle choices.

What we should really do is we should look at our life experiences and ask what are my life challenges telling me about myself. What is the message here?

BEING AN ALCHEMIST

“Sweet are the uses of adversity” – Shakespeare.

When we can change our perspective and look at our challenges, those feelings of limitation, those roadblocks, those scotomas, and realise that they are truly a valuable part of our lives. Then we can take a whole new way of working with our challenges. We can become like an alchemist.

A real alchemist in life is the individual that can learn how to make every situation serve him.

When you look back in your own life and think about problems and challenges that you faced and how many times you suffered needlessly because of something that happened to you.

If you think about your darkest times, And your darkest moments, and your most challenging crises. It was during these times that answers came to you, it’s during these times that you made decisions, that you made choices. And in hindsight, it is often these choices that were a turning point in your entire life.

Always remember that adversity is an opportunity for mastery. Remember that the hard times will serve you – there’s always a gift if you will look for it. Hard times, times of pain, and frustration build your character, if you see them and embrace them that way and that’s is how we turn lead into gold.

“You are an alchemist; make gold of that.” – Shakespeare

TURNING LEAD INTO GOLD

“Change your thoughts and you change your world.” ~ Norman Vincent Peale

The nature of our thoughts determines the quality of your life whether it is happy or sad. Let us remember the age-old saying that our thoughts and feelings can move mountains.

A good thing about our brain is that it willingly adopts any changes that we bring about in our thinking patterns. It’s call brain plasticity, also known as neuroplasticity, is a term that refers to the brain’s ability to change and adapt as a result of intentions, programming, experience etcetera. We have the ability to change the neural structure and rewire our thoughts, behaviour, and habits.

We have many tools to help you do this and here is one that you already know and maybe use – affirmations.

Affirmations is practicing mentally and emotionally what you want. But you must be careful when choosing and using affirmations. For some people and affirmation becomes a sort of repetitive thing that actually ends up reinforcing their awareness that what they want hasn’t happened yet. They’ve been saying for so long, that it’s almost boring to say it again and again. That kind fo affirmation is of no value.

So, an affirmation is only as valuable as the way it feels to you. If an affirmation taunts you, stop it. If the affirmation lifts you, then say it. I have some beautiful affirmations that I use and when I say them I feel a thrill because it resonates with everything that I am, everything that I have been, everything that I strive for.

In other words, my affirmations are deep and have personal meaning to me. I reach for these words because I want to invoke the meaning and the feeling of the words. I’m affirming who-I-really-am and I say it until every part of me knows it.
