Firstly, and most importantly I need to say: “THERE IS NO GREATER VIRUS THAN FEAR” and so read this blog post with that in mind.
There are some great medical professionals around the world saying that our best defense against ‘any’ virus is our “Immune System.” In peak health our immune system is invincible. That is the way the Divine created it. We are more powerful than anything that could be thrown at us.
However, this global disruption is affecting all of us but in a unique way because of our unique situation and we’re having to become very creative as we move forward into 2021.
This current experience that we are all having on the planet is waking us up to our weak links both physically and mentally. This is not a bad thing and it’s actually a gift because sometimes there are many things in our lives that are out of balance. We need to find what works and keep doing more of that and discard that which is not working.
As I’ve mentioned before some years ago I was diagnosed with a life-threatening disease. The powerful thing for me was realising how powerful the cells in my body are. The body is designed to repair and heal itself from any disease if unhindered.
When you’re frightened, in stress, negative, and in survival mode, your body releases large amounts of epinephrine (adrenaline) and cortisol. This is very debilitating for the body itself because cortisol and epinephrine block communication in the body to produce healthy hormones.
So this limits the body to create hormones like serotonin, dopamine, oxytocin and endorphins which are your body’s happy drugs. These neuropeptides keep you in health and wellbeing.
Our cells are constantly eavesdropping on our thoughts. For example:
- A bout of depression can wreak havoc with the immune system
- Falling in love can boost it
- Despair and hopelessness raise the risk of heart attacks and cancer
- Joy and fulfillment keep us healthy
- Thoughts transform themselves into molecules
- Psychology influences biology
- To “think” is to practice brain chemistry
Now, if you truly ‘get it’ and you are willing to take the steps required to eliminate this fragmentation that is blocking your body from doing what it does best – repair and heal. Every cell in your body wants you to thrive physically. But you have to get out the way and that was the ‘gift’ I learned from my life-threatening disease.
How do you get out of the way? My experience is anything you can do to stop resistant thoughts and feelings, or your negative thoughts, and feelings. This is not about positive thinking per se – it’s deeper than that because positive thinking alone doesn’t work!
As we’ve said the virus is evolving and so do we need to evolve. Taking the old you into this New Year, into this new world it won’t work.
WRITING TO SAVE YOUR LIFE
For Marcus Aurelius (known as the last of the five good emperors) the most important activity in his day was writing. Epictetus observed that people work on their body, but not on their soul. And that’s why Epictetus recommended that every day we should keep writing exercises at hand, that we should write and read them.
For Marcus Aurelius and Epictetus this was spiritual combat. They were writing as a way to build their soul, to build a core, an inner fortress. Something that chaos and outside influences and external forces could never penetrate and break down. WOW!
Remember that: “Self-transformation is not just about changing yourself. It means shifting yourself to a completely new dimension of experience and perception.” – Jaggi Vasudev
Here are some exercises and processes that can change you and change your life going into 2021 and beyond. Some of you are ready for this and some aren’t. What we do at Xpansion is not just about information, but we’re all about transformation. Reading books is about information and doing these exercises is about TRANSFORMATION!
- Write daily or once a week to uncover, discover, and gain new insights. Write to understand the things that are working for you and the things that aren’t working for you both at work and in your personal life. Clarity accounts for probably 80% of your success and happiness. Writing down your life and examining your words offers a perspective that you’re going to need in 2021. A study conducted by Harvard Business Review found that participants who reflected at the end of each day in writing had a 25% increase in performance when compared with the control group who did not record anything.
- Writing about what is good in your life right now FOSTERS HOPE! You may be going through some very challenging times. And what writing allows you to do is repeat and relive your favourite experiences that lift you. When you count your blessings you’re allowing these powerful thoughts and feelings to infuse in your heart and mind. Writing your blessings every day imprints deliberate appreciation. Remember that appreciation is a muscle. The more you practice mental gym and celebrate your blessings the stronger your internal muscle of appreciation will grow.
- Writing can be a powerful process of releasing low energy, negative energy. The one thing I’ve learned from being around for quite a while is life is a series of being at the peak of the hill and also being at the bottom of the hill. So if you’re going through one of life’s inevitable challenges remember that what impedes you can empower you. I know that all my challenges in my life have made me better than if I’d never faced those adversities. My process: First, I acknowledge in writing what the challenge is. Second, I write why I’m thankful for this challenge, in other words, what’s good about it. As I write I state the challenges as a gift, and remind myself that when I see the ‘good’ or ‘gift’ I’m putting myself in a positive state versus a negative one. Finally, I write a list of what I appreciate about the gift.
THE POWER OF WRITING
The psychologist will tell you If you do not work through and release anger, frustration, irritation, disappointment, you will repress and suppress those low energy feelings. And when you do that you will be a toxic bitter person, and you will be carrying those people, situations, feelings with you for the rest of your life.
You won’t be creative, you won’t be productive, you won’t be inspired because you’re still stuck back there.
The therapy of writing is not only medicine for the soul but also allows you to analyse creatively your role in 2021.
So as you begin to educate yourself and your body into these more refined states through writing, and you’re capable of ‘holding’ that refinement within yourself. Then your mind, body, and spirit become more unified. That’s where your power begins.
“The great solution to all human problems is individual inner transformation.” – Vernon Howard.
